Running Accomplishments:

Pre-highschool: I loved to run and ran a few small local 5k's, but I did not run much on my own, besides junior high track.

Freshman year: I ran cross country and traied wih the team most of the summer.  When the season started I ran 3 races including Murray Invitational.  I got a huge PR there but after the race my foot hurt and I had a hard time walking. I ran on it for the next week but it was not getting better, so I went to a Sports MD and found out that i had a stress fracture.  Becaue of that injury I missed the rest of the season. Then I ran track for my junior high but did not do extremely well.

Sophmore year: I trained hard over the summer and I got a 3 minute PR on my first race.  I continued to PR, and had a good, injury free season. I ran indoor track an had some good PRs. I ran at simplot and had a great time. I did track and  ran some goodtimes and cut my time down by 15 seconds, I was hoping that I could get low 5's in the mile, but I had fun and was able to race at the steepechase and have a fun time through out the season. At sophmore region I was able to PR in the 800 and I missed my PR in the mile by 2 seconds.

Junior year: I ran a little over 500 miles over the summer, but wasn't improving how I would have liked over the season. I was not consistant at all and was sick for aboout 3 races. I finally had a good race at region and dropped a 46 second pr. Track went well, I went sub-5 in the mile finally and got a PR in the 2 mile pretty easily. I didn't really hit the times I had hoped for throughout the season due to sickness and I just wasn't in it.

PRs:

800: 2:11

1600: 4:56.35

3200: 11:17.47

3 mile: 17:41

5k: 18:07

Short-Term Running Goals:

Cross Country 2016:

Run 650 to 700 summer miles SUCCESS

Low 15's on the 5K and Sub 15 3 mile

Place at region and state

Go to footlocker nationals

Track 2017:

Sub 4:20 mile

Sub 9:15 on the 3200

Sub 2:00 on the 800

Sub 6:25 on steeple chase

Qualify for State, Arcadia, and Great South West, and become the best runner I can be.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run cross country and track in college. Keep improving and just having fun. I'll probably run an ultra or two for the heck of it and to see if I like them.

Personal:

I'm a Senior at Weber High School. I am LDS and plan on serving a mission before college. I'm a member of The Hobbyjogger Project.

The 24 hour run was a huge success and I ended up running faster and a lot more than I expected. It was freezing cold and hit around 24 degrees at the coldest part of the night. We were all bundled up and freezing under the bleachers in a room. There was a lot of good food that I ate too much of and was getting severly punished for after i finished each mile!!! I felt like my stomach was going to explode. I ended up getting more sleep than expected with around an hour. I wanted a high mileage day but was not expecting on getting 20!! It was great, Me and Derreck hit mile 20 just as the team was hitting mile 200. The 24 hour run is basically a massive relay race where there is one person running a mile at a time on the track. We time all of it and keep track of our splits witch is nice, it always ends up being one of the funnest parts of the season. Sometimes we do shorter intervals that equal up to a mile in large groups such as 2X800's, 4X400's, and occasionally 16x100's. I ended up doing 3 2x800's and I think a 4X400. When we do those we do multiple at the same time sowe all get a mile, so in the 2x800's and such each of us runs an 800 hands the baton to the other person, they hand the baton back to you, and you hand it back to them before handing it back to another person or relay group to run their miles. My splits were: 5:44, 6:01, 6:20, 6:02*, 6:16, 6:05*, 6:31, 6:20, 6:18 6:15, 6:34, 6:40, 6:34, 6:29, 6:23, 5:47*, 6:18*, 6:02, 6:14, 6:08. With my split time all added up I did it in 2 hours 5 minutes and 1 seconds which is a 6:15 average pace. *The mile was the 2 or 4 splits from my relay added together.

4X1600's on the track today because we haven't already ran a taon of laps on the track in the past 3 days. I think I hit about 100 laps in the past 3 days about half way through our workout. Did pretty well, I was supposed to hit sub-6 and did on all but one. My spilits were 5:52, 5:59, 6:10, 5:51

Easy 5 miles on canal. Did some hill repeats in the middle of it. I woke up extremely sore from going to the gum the other day and my arms were wrecked. Otherwise I would have gone farther. I almost didn't even go but my dad got me up and going!

Five and a half mile indian run today with Talon, Addison, McKenna, Henry, and Keaton. We had a lot of fun, but I wasn't feeling great and had to take it easier than I would have prefered.

Long run today up 500 W and on the trails across the top. We ran from there over to North Odgen viewpoint (make-out point) and ran down the pass back to weber. There was a lot of uphill but it was a really fun run on the trails. I almost forgot how much I love trail running I had not done it in so long...

Four and a half mile run with Jake, Talon, and Addison. We ran to Lee's and got some Orange Juice samples, and then we ran to Smith's and ate a bunch of their free samples. Ended up being a really fun easier run.

Race: Turkey Day Treadmill run (3 Miles) 00:17:49
Total Distance
6.00

Was planning on racing up in the valley today but the road conditions were terrible so I decided to go on a treadmill. We went to my grandparents to eat so I just used their treadmill. I did suprisingly well considering I had ate 3 plate fulls of turkey, ham, and potatoes, along with 3 pieces of pie before I ran. I heard that to get conditions comparable to a road I needed to increase the incline, so I put the incline up to 3 and started my run after a mile warm-up. I kept it on 6 minute pace until a mile left and then I gradually increased it. It hurt and I wanted to slow down, but I wouldn't let my self do it. I cooled down out side because their basement felt like 1,000,000 degrees. As I was cooling down I tripped and fell over in the snow and my whole family made fun of me and my snow/mud covered clothes when I got back. I was pretty happy with how I did, and it was a pretty good Thanksgiving.

Henry called me and asked If i wanted to go running with him and I was like, "Heck yeah Hank! Anytime" so we drove over to the Valley and ran on the north arm trail in the snow, after we did a few strides on the side of the road.
